Overview
Castaway allows you to collaborate with people external to your Organisation by inviting them as Guests to individual Projects. Guests do not require an existing Castaway account, they will be guided to register once they receive your invitation.
Common use cases include:
- An advisor sharing a Project with a client
- A commercial accountant sharing a file with a consultant, fractional CFO, non-executive director or board member external to their business
- A commercial customer sharing a Project with their accountant or advisor
- A Castaway user temporarily sharing a file with the Castaway Customer Success team to resolve a support issue
To add colleagues from within your own Organisation, refer to this article: Adding & Removing Internal Users

Internal Users vs Guests
It is important to understand the distinction between Organisation Users and Guests when sharing Projects:
| Permission | Organisation User | Guest |
|---|---|---|
| Project visibility | Can see and access all Projects in the Organisation unless a Project has Private Projects applied | Can only see and access Projects they have been individually invited to |
| Access level | Full access to visible Projects | Active (full access) or Read Only — set by the inviter at the time of invitation |
| Can see other Organisation files | Yes, unless restricted by Private Projects | No |
