Overview

The Income tab displays all GL codes from your connected accounting system identified as income accounts. These are mapped to the Castaway chart of accounts - either the Sales header or the Other Income header - which determines how income is structured in your model and reports.

The Sales Header

Map your primary revenue GL codes here. Each mapped GL code creates a Sales element. GST/VAT is applied by default based on your file's country setting.

Key mapping decisions

Decision Options Impact
Debtor Reporting Trade Debtors (default), Current Debtors, Non-Current Debtors, Link to Debtor Element Controls where the debtors balance for this Sales element reports in the balance sheet. Trade Debtors (default) consolidates into the general inbuilt trade debtors line. Current Debtors or Non-Current Debtors gives the Sales element its own dedicated debtors line. Link to Debtor Element connects the Sales line to a manually created Debtor element - useful where multiple Sales lines need to share a single combined debtors balance.
Bad Debts Enable or leave off Enabling a bad debts expense method on a Sales element creates a Bad Debt Expense line under the Other Expense header.

The Other Income Header

Most lines here are partner elements — they appear automatically based on elements created elsewhere in the mapping process. You map your GL codes to them once they appear; you do not create these lines directly.

Partner elements

Line Appears when
Investment Income An Investment element is created (Asset tab). One line appears per Investment element.
Gain on Sale An Investment element or Fixed Asset element is created (Asset tab).
Revaluation Gain A Fixed Asset element is configured to report revaluation gains through the P&L.
Other Asset/Liability Income An Other Asset/Liability element is created (Asset/Liability tabs).

It is common to return to the Other Income header after completing Asset and Liability tab mapping, as lines will continue to appear as those elements are created.

Interest Income Header

The Interest Income header contains an inbuilt line for the main bank account — this is always present. Additional lines appear automatically as further bank account elements are created.

Line Appears when
Main bank account (Interest Income) Always present — inbuilt
Additional bank account lines Each additional Bank Account element created (Asset tab)
