Overview
Storyboards are Castaway's management reporting feature, allowing you to bring together dashboards, KPI reports, images, text, commentary and disclaimers into a complete and visually engaging reporting pack for your business or clients. Use Storyboards to tell different stories from your Project file to your audience - highlighting key trends, communicating financial performance and providing deeper insight to your stakeholders.
To access your Storyboards, navigate to Storyboards > Storyboards and select the one you wish to open.
Page Types
Once open, you can add pages by clicking the plus icon and selecting your preferred page type. To edit or delete a page, click the three dots in the top right corner of that page.

Layout Page
The Layout page is a flexible canvas where you can arrange and customise widgets to build your own page design.
Adding and Arranging Widgets
- Drag and drop widgets onto the page to add them
- Click and drag the corners of a widget to resize it
- Click, hold and drag a widget to move it to a new position
- Click the three dots in the top right corner of a widget to bring it to the front, send it to the back, clear it or remove it
Renaming a Page
While in edit mode, type the new name in the Page Name box.
Image Widget
- Select the image icon in the middle of the widget.
- Click Upload an Image to browse and select an image from your computer.
- Once uploaded, the image will appear in the left sidebar and be available for use in any image widget.
- Left-click the image in the left sidebar to insert it into the widget.
Logo Widget
- Select the logo icon in the widget.
- Left-click the logo you wish to use from the left sidebar to insert it into the widget.
Once added, the border and background colour of the logo can be adjusted via the Style tab.
Text Widget
- Click the text icon within the widget options.
- Click the widget to enter edit mode - the border will highlight and the editing menu will appear.
- Type and edit your text as required.
The title can be shown or hidden by toggling the Show Heading option under Text Options. Border and background colour can be customised via the Style tab.
Board Page
Adding a Board page allows you to select from Castaway's inbuilt dashboards or any Custom Dashboards you have built in the Analysis workspace. The date range displayed is controlled by Global Settings, available via the blue button in the top left of the screen.
KPI Page
Adding a KPI page allows you to include a KPI report from your KPIs workspace directly in your Storyboard. Both inbuilt and custom KPIs are available.
Disclaimer Page
Adding a Disclaimer page will automatically apply your Organisation's default disclaimer.
