Castaway Cloud Training

Castaway Cloud training is now available.

Having listened to the needs of our users, we are initially delivering training in short,  live, practical sessions and structured in such a way that there is an appropriate course or combination of courses (a pathway) for every type of user.  The objectives and learning outcomes for each session are detailed below.

Each of these training sessions are instructor-led, highly practical and focused on developing forecasting skills. Attendees will have access to training files and other documentation.

The sessions are NOT RECORDED.

If you register for the training, you will need to attend live, so please read carefully the dates and times offered for your region.

Level 1 Training 

BASELINE Training
Audience	All Castaway Cloud users. People who are new to Castaway and want to use the software to create business forecasts
Objectives	This is an introductory course that takes people through the major stages of building, maintaining and delivering a Castaway model
Learning Outcomes	Describe what Castaway is Understand (at a high level) how Castaway works and what it can do Follow the Castaway Build Process to build a simple forecast Decide the best workflows for the circumstance (BUILD/ MAINTAIN/ REPORT)

Level 2 Training

BUILD Training
Audience	Castaway Cloud users who need to build forecasts. BASELINE Training is a pre-requisite to attend BUILD Training
Objectives	This is a more advanced course that provides users with the confidence and takes them into the detail of building effective Castaway models
Learning Outcomes	Plan a forecast build Decide the fastest, most effective workflows for building the model Make informed decisions on Element types Use Element settings to fine tune the Chart of Accounts

 

MAINTAIN Training
Audience	Castaway Cloud users who need to do end of month or end of year maintenance on an existing Castaway file, whether they have built it or not. BASELINE Training is a pre-requisite to attend MAINTAIN Training
Objectives	This is a more advanced course that takes users through the essential knowledge and workflows for them to be highly efficient and effective in maintaining Castaway files. These users may have no experience with the specific file, so can be assumed to not know how or why it was built. This course will have them confident in their task, even with unfamiliar Castaway models
Learning Outcomes	Change the Actuals month Import data into Castaway from external sources Be familiar with mapping and re-mapping decisions Trace and resolve OOB issues with the imported data Review the reported numbers and identify issues Update projected figures manually Work with the Upload Forecast Data template Update Budgets and Forecasts Prepare Reports and Storyboards

 

DELIVER Training
Audience	Castaway Cloud users who need to present a forecast, explain it, defend it and provide advice based on it to a client/ external financier/ stakeholder, etc. The course assumes users have completed BASELINE Training, but may not have been deeply involved in building the Castaway model
Objectives	This is a more advanced course that provides users with the essential knowledge and workflows for them to confidently take responsibility for a file and: identify the key assumptions explain the numbers on reports Understand how to adjust the forecast, including stress-testing, what-ifs and scenarios
Learning Outcomes	Efficiently review a forecast to understand how it has been built Be confident about presenting, explaining and working with the forecast Apply effective techniques for stress-testing, what-if and scenario analysis to the forecast

What we are working toward

After the pilot sessions, BASELINE, BUILD, MAINTAIN and DELIVER Training will be offered for a fee of AUD$100+GST per course. Subscribers on Plan50 or above will be offered the instructor-led training as part of their subscription.
