Every line of the data you feed into Castaway is accessible by Custom KPIs. This allows you to deliver tailor-made, immediate insights and powerful monitoring tools to your Team and Clients. This article will cover:

Create an Account Monitor KPI
Track an individual line from your accounts or Driver Data.
To create an Account Monitor KPI:
- Go to KPIs > Setup tab
- Click the green plus sign
- Select Create an Account Monitor KPI
- Name your KPI and select the account or driver you wish to track in the right-hand toolbar.
- Click Track Account to finalise your KPI
- To lock in any changes made in the Setup tab you must click Save KPIs
- Once the KPI is created consider updating the higher/lower, total type and % display
Create a Formula KPI
Use the Castaway formula builder to tailor your KPI to your needs and monitor performance.
To create a Custom Formula KPI:
- Go to KPIs > Setup tab
- Click the green plus sign on the top of any Category Table
- Select Create a Formula KPI
- Name your Formula KPI and build your formula
- Click Save to finalise your KPI
- To lock in any changes made in the Setup tab you must click Save KPIs
Using the KPI Formula Builder
- Name your Formula KPI
- To input data into your formula, select the origin under the Add Data right-hand panel: Project KPIs to point to other KPIs, or Forecast Data for all your data financial data and drivers
- Expand each section to view all the data lines, double clicking to bring it into the formula
- Under the Forecast Data source, entire sections can be selected, also by double clicking
- Click any of the mathematical functions to insert them into the formula
- Bring in numerical values typing them into the Values box, or using the up and down arrows, and then confirming the value by hitting enter or clicking the green plus button
- Castaway will tell you if your Formula is mathematically cogent and Valid, at which point it will be saveable. To remove any component of the formula click the cross in its corner
- Once the KPI is created consider updating the higher/lower, total type and % display

KPI Categories
Categories in KPIs allow you to group and organise your Custom KPIs, much like the Inbuilt KPIs. Ordering your KPIs within a category is the best way to illustrate the story of your financial and non-financial data. Reordering any KPI or Category, Custom or Inbuilt, by dragging and dropping.
Organising your KPIs in tables also brings benefits across other Castaway reports. When connecting a KPI widget into a Dashboard, the KPI Category table can be selected as a whole and will include your KPI Category title.
To add a KPI Category:
- Go to KPIs > Setup tab
- Click the blue plus sign
- Input your Category Title and click the green tick
- To lock in any changes made in the Setup tab you must click Save KPIs
