Overview

Th Castaway integration with Xero is a one-way integration from Xero to Castaway, giving Castaway access to your Xero chart of accounts and trial balance reports. Castaway connects with all of Xero. Connecting via an integration source is the recommended approach for building a Castaway file - it is the fastest way to build your chart of accounts and ensures your model is grounded in real financial data from the outset.

Once integrated, you can:

  • Build a new Castaway Project from your Xero file including mapping
  • Map the Xero chart of accounts to an existing Castaway Project
  • Import opening balances and actuals data for one or multiple months

Who can Connect to Xero?

Any Castaway user can connect a Xero file as an integration source with the exception of users with Read Only access.

Connecting to your Xero File

  1. Go to Forecast > External Sources and click the Xero logo.
  2. Select the Xero file you wish to connect and click Allow Access.
  3. Castaway will ask for confirmation - select your file.
  4. Click Import.

The number of months loaded defaults to 24 months from today. If you need to load more or fewer months, adjust this from the bottom left of the confirmation screen.

For further guidance refer to: Importing More than 24 Months via Integrations

Updating your Xero Data

Once your file is connected, you can refresh your Xero data at any time to pull in the latest values from Xero. To refresh, go to Forecast > External Sources and click Refresh Data. This will bring the latest values into the mapping screen for you to review before importing.

If you have made changes to your mapping and need to clear your actuals data before reimporting, refer to: Clearing Actuals Data
